well after a series of unfortunate events the tippy is warm. starting last saturday when we got to the tippy and i called the gas company it was nearly a comedy of errors until the gas company, the furnace repair man, and the county inspector got done with us it is now a week later until we get to sleep in our own beds.
we are extremely grateful to zach and jenny for their continued and gracious hospitality. they thought they were getting rid of one troll in the basement and ended up with six :-)
next on the mjm family wish list - hooking up the dryer, investigating internet service, a garage door opener that works, and picking up our stove in illinois.
this last week reminded us just how much we have to be thankful for - safety, food to eat, clothes to wear, and multiple places to be warm and dry.
in case this post sounds different this is the dad posting. with all of the happenings of getting the family re-situated in indiana i also had my first gw board meeting and also the annual gw representative meetings. it was a very uplifting weekend as many people shared what gateway has meant to them and reminded me why i am thankful to be a part of such a great organization doing God's work.

Stuff
That's not a very good title but hey what else can I put? As you know we had to have inspections done to the house before we could have the natural gas turned on. The inspectors came twice and did tests. The first one didn't pass but the second one did! We also have a water softener! Anybody that hasen't had one for awile will know what I mean:). Tomorrow possibly going to be our first NIGHT in our new house!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, Jill Rager offered to bring us dinner for today. When she asked what time, I realized that I didn't even know when my husband got home after work...
It is really a helpless feeling to not know where anything is...including the grocery store, the post office, etc etc. We did go to the Grabill library on Monday and we found the mall in Ft. Wayne. The library because the curriculum we are using this year depends heavily on checking out books to supplement our geography/history/science. The mall because there was a Maurices there and we were hopeful we could find a Sunday skirt for Rachel that was LONG. No such luck. Any suggestions on where we can find LONG skirts for a beautiful tall girl would be much appreciated. Most of the LONG skirts seem to be denim, which is nice, but we need some of lighter weight material for summer.
We have slept at Zach and Jenny's house since we got here. We do have some space heaters going at our house so the bedrooms are pretty warm and the sunroom is nice during the day. The guy is hopeful that the inspection will take place Thursday morning, so I guess that is what we are waiting for now. In the meantime, we need to locate a water softener and figure out a time to go get our stove that is in Dad's shed. Until then, we'll cook with the microwave, crockpot and grill. I guess we have the electric skillet too...we aren't doing too badly are we?! :)
Monday, after we had gone to the library and the mall, we went back to our house and I took a big long nap. I was exhausted and just wanted to escape it all. Today, we actually unpacked some more stuff, did some school for the first time in IN, and then had dinner that Jill brought--all together at our table for the first time.
We also enjoyed some cookies and blueberry muffins that Lorelei Gutwein and her girls brought us from the CARE group. The 2nd Monday of every month, they get together to make food for new mothers, etc. It was nice to be thought of!
The Tippy is going to be a great rental house when we get some heat in it. The boys played in the backyard for a long time this afternoon. They found a big old dull knife that looks like a machete and that did wonders for their imaginations. Luke had commented the day we moved in that he was trying not to put down roots in this house because he knew it was just temporary, but "Mom, they just keep trying to go down!" I told him it was okay, I understood. You just can't hold your breath that long.
This weekend is Mark's first big meeting with GW. It is the Rep's meeting, where the reps from all the different churches come. All of the GW employees, houseparents and kids sing for the reps and they have the meeting. Miranda and Rachel are going to help babysit babies and toddlers during the meeting. Mark and Zach have been working on having their reports ready.

Love & Greetings from The Tippy
Today was our official moving day.
We got to the house around 2 o'clock. Daddy got a great deal on this house for us to rent. You're probably wondering about the title of this post?! Well, the floor slants one way in the living room and another way in the kitchen, so we've nicknamed it The Tippy.
We had a lot of people show up. Many of them brought food for us:) It is starting to feel more like home although it is positively FREEZING in the house. When we got there, there was no heat. There hasn't been any propane in the tank for over a year so we have to have an inspection done. There can't be an inspection until the wiring for the hot water heater is fixed. We did get some space heaters, and the sunroom is warm, but for tonight, we will be staying at Zach & Jenny's. They are in OH because her brother Jacob was announced to Bethany Miller from Mansfield.
We had many wonderful people come to help us unpack. We have many many thank yous to give out but we especially want to thank the WONDERFUL people in Atlanta who are finishing cleaning up what was left at our old house.
Monday morning
Hi, Julie here. We are just getting ready to go exploring--find the Grabill library and who knows what else. I printed off a few maps, so we'll see. But first over to the Tippy, to warm up some soup and check on Jake, who by the way, was a great traveler and good sport! We gave him some pills from the vet and he rode in his cat carrier. At the hotel, he was well-behaved and let us get our sleep and then he's just been so sweet since we arrived in all the chaos. It was wonderful to have the warm sunny sunroom to put him in and be able to close the door and keep him out of the way.
Please continue to pray for the sale of our house. My dad called from GA and said that another empty house on our road there was vandalized and a whole bunch of wires were cut out. I guess people steal it to sell for the copper!? I was pretty freaked out about that, but since there is nothing we can do about it anyway, we are praying that God will take care of it all. He showed me Psalm 4 yesterday, "Stand in awe and sin not...offer the sacrifices of righteousness and put your trust in the Lord."
Yesterday, we went to Jeff and Tina Schumacher's for supper and the evening. This weekend, Olivia is in a play--Jane Eyre, that we hope to go see, and next Sunday, is our first rotating potluck.
Mark was able to get hold of the landlord's manager and he is working on getting heat in the house. They are hopeful it will be by tomorrow. I wasn't expecting it until later this week!
We still need a water softener, because the water is so hard here. Also, the former renters left two lawn mowers, one with a flat tire. Not sure if either of them work, but we are going to have to bale hay in the backyard when we first mow. I don't think the enclosed backyard has been mowed for at least a year!

More Stuff
I just realized that I didn't mention my mom today... she has been sick with a sore throat and cough, so she has been staying down at Lana's with the little ones and hasn't been down here much. It's been pretty awful and we really hope she gets better soon. And we really hope we don't get it with everything we have ahead of us in the next few days!
We also wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the people who showed up at our new house to clean it up. We are just overwhelmed by the love and kindness shown to us!
Gary is taking Jake, our cat, to the vet this afternoon...our good friend, Dr. Jeff Lanz from Rittman, told us about something we can give to Jake to make him sleep while we travel, (cats don't travel well like dogs do, and I don't want to hear him yowling for 10 hours!!) but this vet wouldn't sell us the $12 medicine until we came in for a $44 visit...arrggghhh. Oh well, Jake is such a great cat--he's worth it! :)
Library books are all found and returned...
What do I do with the food in the fridge? This and other questions will be solved on the next edition of As the Maibachs Move! :)

Mark is flying to GA for the last time and we are loading the truck!!
The first flight out of Indy was to arrive here at 12:55 pm. Mark called and said it was oversold. We were both praying for a miracle once again, and the Lord provided. He called and said he was on! The last flight!
We are mostly done packing with a few odds and ends to finish. Then we need to finish cleaning the place because we need to leave it ready to show.
Gary & Mary are here, and my dad and Rocky came to help too. Lana and Philip are supposed to be getting home today from Florida. We also asked a few friends from church and co-op for help in loading the truck.
Well, gotta run--lots to do!

We have a house in Leo!
Here are some pictures of the house in Leo that we will be renting. Last night, Daddy and a whole bunch of great people from Leo cleaned it up and cleaned it out. (These pictures were from before so there is still some junk laying around) When we got the pictures, we noticed the very obvious hole where the DISHWASHER is supposed to be! Mom says she has four dishwashers... We just wanted to warn you that if you come visit us, bring paper plates!
